Gala lives up to billing

“Madzibaba” Zakaria, Suluman Chimbetu, Jah Prayzah, Somandla “Mafia” Ndebele, debutant Mathias Mhere, Tanga Wekwa Sando, Leonard Karikoga Zhakata and Cde Chinx Chingaira.
Man of-the moment Suluman made his presence felt when he showed up in a spanking new Chrysler Crossfire sport.
No doubt Sulu, as he is known to his fans, is having a time of his life with the popularity of his hit “Sean Timba”.
Other musicians who thrilled the more than 10 000 strong crowd were Sandra “Sandy” Ndebele, Peter Moyo, Gift Case Amuli, Progress Chipfumo, Tryson Chimbetu, Freeman, Mbare Chimurenga Choir and the Born Free Crew.
Those who could not make it to Rujeko Primary School, the venue of the this year’s 21st February Movement Gala watched the show in the comfort of their own homes as ZBC TV beamed the gig live.
For the first time fans who watched from home enjoyed quality pictures and sound courtesy of ZVC TV’s new Outside Broadcasting Van which was recently unveiled by President Mugabe.
The gala ignited a sense of pride as Zimbabweans from different social spheres came together to celebrate the life of a visionary, liberator and economic emancipator President Mugabe.
Held under the theme: “Youth for Indigenisation, Empowerment, Development and Employment Creation” the gala was a platform to do business for several enterprising young business people.
Some had food stalls, others were selling various wares but the most notable ones were those who were selling the overalls style gear. The “Hovhorosi Style” has literally taken Zimbabweans by storm.
The 21st February Movement gala might have come and gone but it left lasting impression on the community in Glendale and that is typical of the national galas.
