The Home Office had appealed against the 19-year-old being allowed to stay in the UK but an immigration judge has ruled in favour of the singer and her family.
Gamu has lived with her mother and two brothers at Tillicoutry in Clackmannanshire for seven years. The Home Office moved to deport them following allegations that Gamu’s mother, a nurse, had wrongly claimed working tax credits.
The family has always strenuously denied the claims and, in May of this year, successfully appealed against the bid to deport them.
Gamu shot to fame on the X Factor last year, when she was controversially booted off the show by judge Cheryl Cole.
She was all smiles as she left the hearing Glasgow but declined to comment.
Her lawyer, Frances Farrell, told Sky News: “It’s a great relief to Gamu and her family.
“Hopefully, the Home Office will now issue them with leave to remain in the United Kingdom.
“I hope they’ll accept the decision of the court although there are further steps they could take, they could appeal to the Court of Session but I hope they won’t do that.”—Skynews.
