Gang of 8 force women to surrender cash at gunpoint

A GANG of eight armed robbers allegedly forced two women to surrender cash at gunpoint, in an early morning raid in Mberengwa.

Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the Incident which occurred on Unity Day.

He said the unidentified armed robbers went to a room behind a shop at Madozvo Business Centre in Mberengwa where two female shopkeepers were sleeping.

“The two shopkeepers were awakened by the sound of eight men who were trying to open the door. After failing to open the door, they forced open a window and pointed at the two complainants with a pistol demanding money and cellphones. The complainants surrendered US$110, R1 700, and a cellphone. The robbery occurred at 2 AM,” he said.
