Garage goes up in flames

Mashonaland Central Correspondent
A garage that was used for illegal fuel sales was last Friday night gutted by fire in Mvurwi. The garage is also used for selling drugs, fertiliser, grain and cement.

Traders at the garage said the fire was started by one of the fuel traders who spilt some petrol and it caught fire.

“The fire started after Farai Muroka accidentally spilt petrol next to where we had started a fire to warm ourselves,” said one of the traders at the garage.

“Muroka was burnt in the process. We lost our property that include tyres, maize and fertiliser.”

No report was made to the police.

The owner of the garage, Mr Joe Chanda, had a torrid time trying to stop people from capturing the inferno on their mobile phones.
