A 44-YEAR-OLD Bulawayo man has appeared in court facing a serious charge of aggravated indecent assault after he allegedly abused a young girl at a house where he worked as a gardener.
Lloyd Masuku was brought before Bulawayo Magistrate Mark Dzira and remanded in custody until 16 January. He was not asked to plead.
The complainant is a 10-year-old Grade Four pupil at a local primary school. The accused was employed at her family home.
Prosecutor Jethro Mada told the court that the disturbing incident allegedly took place on 23 October 2025, at around 4PM.
The court heard that Masuku called the child to where he was seated behind the house and ordered her to open her dress.
It is alleged that he then fondled the child’s breasts and fingered her.
The accused is further alleged to have threatened to beat both the child and her mother if she told anyone about the incident.
The matter only came to light later when the child’s mother was bathing her.
After noticing something was wrong, the mother questioned her daughter, who then revealed what had allegedly happened.
Shocked and distressed, the mother immediately reported the matter to the police.
This led to the arrest of the accused.
