Thief destroys chip maker with kick of rage

A NGUBOYENJA man (29) cooked up a fast-food disaster after smashing a chip fryer into pieces during a fit of rage.
Arthur Maphosa appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Challenge Mahembe, who hit him with a US$150 fine. If he fails to pay, he will spend three months in prison.

The drama played out on 9 January at around 9AM at Gomba Grinding Mill.

Prosecutor Veronica Manyuka told the court that Maphosa helped himself to a bicycle belonging to Winfilder Gomba’s brother without asking for permission.

When Winfilder discovered the missing bicycle and alerted her brother, Maphosa’s temper boiled over like hot oil.

In a moment of madness, he lashed out and kicked a chip fryer that a street vendor was using to prepare fast food, sending it crashing to the ground and shattering into pieces.

The poor fryer never stood a chance.
The damaged appliance was valued at US$75 and has not yet been repaired, leaving local chip lovers mourning their favourite snack spot.
