THE Zimbabwe senior netball team celebrated their second win at the ongoing Netball World Cup 2023 Regional Qualifiers Africa in Cape Town, South Africa.
The Gems overpowered a very physical Namibia 45-41 after dominating all quarters of the match, except the last, in which they had to hold their nerve, as the Namibians threw everything at them.
The Gems were also forced to make a number of substitutions due to injuries.
“The game was physical and most of the players had to be changed.
“Sharon Bwanali had to make way for Joice Takaedza after a knee injury,” said coach Ropafadzo Mutsauki.
The coach was, however, pleased with how they managed the game, despite the injuries.
“We are happy with the win. We beat them mentally and physically.”
Gems captain, Tafadzwa Matura, was very influential and was named player-of-the-match. “I thank God and my teammates for another win. “The game got physical towards the end, so we had to be strong for each other,” Matura said.
The Gems will take on South Africa in their next match.
