Gender Links Zimbabwe prepares for 2025 SADC Gender Protocol and Work Summit

GENDER Links Zimbabwe (GLZ), in partnership with the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works, is set to host the 2025 Zimbabwe Sadc Gender Protocol and Work Summit from tomorrow to Friday.

The event will bring together over 60 local authorities, Government ministries, civil society organisations and media practitioners to assess progress made towards gender equality and inclusive local economic development.

The summit will run under the theme “Taking stock of gender-responsive budgeting and local economic development initiatives in Zimbabwe.”

The summit will provide a platform for showcasing evidence-based approaches shaping communities across the country.

The gathering also serves as the national qualifier for the SADC Regional Gender Protocol and Work Summit, which celebrates outstanding contributions toward achieving the SADC Gender Protocol targets and related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Participants will present initiatives across a broad range of categories, including: Institutional Centres of Excellence on gender mainstreaming, Gender Responsive Budgeting and Local Economic Development

Other topics are Entrepreneurship, Leadership/Drivers of Change, Youth Empowerment, Media Excellence, Climate Justice, Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).

According to GLZ, the summit aims to gather concrete evidence through case studies on gender mainstreaming, leadership, youth participation and institutional practice.

It will also assess progress in gender-responsive budgeting and local economic development programming.
