GENIUS Messenger recently released a new song which blends gospel and dancehall.
The song is titled ‘I Am Under Pressure’.
The song was produced by Oskid at Oskid Productions.
He is also working on a reggae album titled ‘Kutenda,’ which features upcoming artists such as El Bonnet and Unique Worshiper.
This album consists of different songs which carry the powerful message of why the youths should fight against drug and substance abuse. Genius Messenger said he grew up listening to dancehall and reggae music.
He decided to sing gospel songs to spread the message of God, through dancehall and reggae riddims, so that his music would appeal to the youths.
Genius Messenger told H-Metro:
‘’I saw that we need improvement in dancehall music, especially in terms of lyrical content.
“Most dancehall artists sing songs that do not uplift other souls.
“I grew up selling drugs in Kuwadzana but when I received God, as my Father, I left all that and now I am singing dancehall gospel.
“I am trying to help my brothers who are lost out there.
“I often use the bible scriptures to write some of my songs.
“Some church leaders now invite me to sing in their churches because of the intensity of my music, vocal style, instrumentation, harmony and rhythmic content.”
