Gentle Brook favourite for Springvale Flyers

BORROWDALE Race Course is the place to be this afternoon where eight horses will clash over 1 300m for the Springvale House Sable Flyers Listed race. This race for fillies and mares, penciled in as race 6 on the card, is on at 3.40pm. There is $8 000 in stakes money and the winner will collect $4 800 while the other placed runners will pocket $1 600, $1 000 and $600 respectively.

A quick look at the figures favours Gentle Brooke who has been accepted as the highest rated sprinter for this competition.
Gentle Brook is rated 84 and will be directed by jockey Randal Simons from the stable of Amy Bronkhorst. From a total of 36 runs this horse has managed to win eight times and placed nine times not a bad record either.

Gentle Brook will stride down the turf carrying a top weight of 60 kilogrammes. Unfortunately over such a short distance this load could prove to be the stumbling block for this team.

Another local domiciled trainer Alyson Wright has opted to saddle Tallie Two who is rated three steps down the rating ladder at 81.
Tallie Two is one runner who is expected to keep pressure on Gentle Brook all the way especially if this horse gets into the groove in time, while Ryan Munger will be the jockey.
From 14 competitions, Tallie Two has found his way to the winners’ podium four times and placed seven times.

Print The Pounds who seems to be slowly but surely returning to his best is also in with a big chase in this competition. Winning or a place finish in this race is within reach for this team. This bay filly has taken part in 11 races won four times and placed seven times. Putting together her wins and placing, she has a 100 percent record to date.
The fact that this horse arrives 2,5 kilogrammes lighter is a plus and might tilt the scale in its favour, holding other things constant of course.

Bridget Stidolp has handed local jockey Fanie Chambers the reigns of Print the Pounds in the quest for the top prize.
The 2014/15 Champion Apprentice jockey Wesley Marwing will take charge of Supa Dupa another horse by Amy Bronkhorst.

Other runners to keep an eye on during this competition are Pegwell Bay, Flamingo Lily, Iron Lady and Swinging On A Star.
According to the racing manager Betina Gurajena preparations for the race day have gone well so far.

“Generally we are prepared for the race and everything is now in place ready to kick start Sunday. This season we are also promising a lot of exciting races and lots of fun for families and horse racing fans,” added Gurajena the MTC horse racing manager.

Six more races plus 76 runners will take part in all the events including the main race.
