Grace Ngadze George Emmanuel College —
The classical and most admirable event of George Emmanuel college this year, was hosted by none other than the high class society, the toast masters. The successful event was held at the vogue Cresta Lodge with transport from Sam’s Limousines. The Toast Masters arrived in two Hummer Stretchers that picked them up from George Emmanuel College. Eloquently descending at Cresta Lodge, they were all clad in zebra colours.
It was almost difficult to believe that these were the same boys and girls you would see strolling down the hallways of George Emmanuel. Surely George Emmanuel is grooming upmarket ladies and gentlemen. The arrival of the outgoing president of Toastmasters, Mr Thulani Nyamapfeka heralded the start of events.
The outgoing president of Toastmasters, looking as sophisticated as always, proudly inaugurated the new board with the help of the other outgoing members Miss Constance Chasakara and Miss Stacy Mubayiwa. Handing over the button stick, he emphasized, “This is the second board of Toastmasters since the club began and there’s so much potential that has been shown by them especially in the planning of the event.”
We all felt the zeal to continue the vision that our pioneers had from the beginning. The Masters of Ceremony Sir Bidi and Sir Jusa made sure their guests were handled in a simple but still sophisticated manner as they fined for any loss of composure displayed such as bad table manners.
Cresta Lodge also played a huge role in preparing an “all you can eat” buffet that was accompanied by scrumptious desserts for gluttons of the event. The music was well laid out by the DJ’s of the night leaving the night to remain as young as they needed it to be. This event was an eye opener to other members of the school and could not have been made possible if it wasn’t for Auntie and the CEO. We all felt this event was worth all the hard work and effort we each contributed to planning for it.
Over and above our Guest of Honour, Mr Emmanuel, in his speech, hammered on the importance of carrying on the trend that had been left for us to maintain, “It’s not enough to take from where they left from, but make sure you perfect what they tried to do,” he encouraged. This event not only reflected true nurturing of young leaders of tomorrow but also that there is a beacon in this land and she surely portrays success, determination and integrity.
The whole night was thanks to the synergy of the new board which comprised of the president Mr Donavan Mhundwa, his three vice presidents Mr Cliff Nhemachena, Mr Nigel Shangare and Miss Zvikomborero Manyowa. Funds into and out of the club were well handled by the treasurer Mr Kudzaishe Chirenje and his secretary Miss Grace Ngadze. Helping hands from Mr Michael Kavhai and Sir Aldridge Lima were of great help. Mr Brandon Sakonda saw to the flowers of the guest.
