Rock legend Jon Bon Jovi has sensationally claimed Bayern Munich players were drinking in a hotel bar with him just 24 hours before they thumped Chelsea in the Champions League.
The German giants tore Frank Lampard’s side apart in the second half of their last-16 first leg at Stamford Bridge.
Former Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry scored twice before Robert Lewandowski completed a 3-0 win to give Bayern a surely insurmountable advantage going into next month’s second leg.
He told talkSPORT: “I was minding my own business in the bar and the team were in there the night before last and how they, on the power of whiskey and beer — overpowered Chelsea last night doesn’t say much for Chelsea’s drinking habits.
“The Bayern guys were certainly sipping whiskey and having a good old time and then they went and shellacked Chelsea. I’m going to get everybody in trouble.”
Lewandowski took his season’s tally to a remarkable 43 goals in 39 games for club and country, but he also provided two assists that helped sealed Bayern’s victory.
Gnabry profited from the Pole’s build-up play and notched his 16th and 17th goals of an impressive campaign.
Chelsea’s miserable night was compounded by a red card for Marcos Alonso, who was dismissed after a Video Assistant Referee review ruled he had struck Lewandowski in the face.
The Blues will also be without Jorginho for the return leg in Munich on March 18, after the Italy midfielder picked up a cheap yellow card for dissent.
Gnabry told BT Sport afterwards: “We need to be prepared for this second leg. It is still open but I think we have a good advantage.
“Last year Liverpool beat Barcelona after a 3-0 advantage so we have to be careful. We have to go into the second leg with our focus and try and win that one as well.”
On his record in London this season, following his four-goal haul at Tottenham, he added: “I’ve got a lot of fans here, a lot of them were in the stands tonight again, and it seemed like they gave me some kind of good power and of course I always like to come back.”
