THE University of Zimbabwe (UZ) will tomorrow host some of the strongest people in Southern Africa in a titanic clash for the Strongest Man Award.
The events will feature a showdown of who pulls and pushes the biggest truck, “deadlift and hold,” and “TBL Tyre Flip.”
The winner will walk away with a US$500 cash prize, the second will get US$200 and the third will pocket US$100.
Zimpapers is among other partners for the event while there is still room for other partners.
Participants include Jonathan “Mr Mat” Muvingi, Anorld “Oxman” Zikhali, Chido Maenzanise and others drawn from Zambia, Kenya, Congo and South Africa. Strongman Association founder, Knowledge Musengi, said everything was going according to script.
“All is now set for the day and this is the first of its kind in Zimbabwe.
“We have secured the prizes for the winners and we hope to see stiff competition.
“Twenty plus participants are expected to showcase their strengths.
“It’s going well and the support we are getting is overwhelming. The support of the continental board shows that we are serious about this.”
He added:
“Everything has a beginning and this is the beginning.
“We are expecting over 10 participants from Kenya, Zambia, Congo and Rwanda.
“We are excited and the doors are still open for sponsors who want to be part of this.
“We want to make history.”
The competition have also been endorsed by the vice president of the Africa Strongman Association, Partson Muzondiwa, who is also the president of the Zambia Strongman Association.
