adminOn New Year’s day CLS woke up to the sad news that 16-year-old Mercy died from a crocodile attack in Runde River in Mwenezi, a close family member has said.
The young girl became the immediate victim after she went for a fishing trip with her mother Mrs Karashaka of Village 2, Mafura Ranch under Chief Chitanga.
The girl managed to free herself from the crocodile’s grip, but that was not enough as she bled excessively to death minutes later.
Mercy’s mother Violet Jamu, 39, could not help it when her daughter was being attacked but rather ran off screaming into the village only to return finding her already dead on the river bank.
According to Chief Chitanga, the two had been fishing in the river using nets. The chief has warned people against fishing in crocodile-infested water bodies saying they risk being attacked during the rainy season. – Cool Writer
