A SIX-YEAR-OLD girl was mauled to death by two dogs in Goromonzi while playing with her cousins.
National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, said Nakai Ngoshi of Dongo Village died before she could get help.
He said the owner of the dogs, Justice Nyamutsamba, 40, has been charged with culpable homicide.
He said the girl went to play at her uncle, Tobias Ngoshi’s homestead where Nyamutsamba’s dogs charged at the children, and attacked Nakai.
“The deceased’s two cousins tried to scare off the dogs, but failed and cried for help,” Ass Comm Nyathi said.
“Nyamutsamba’s employee, Junior Munetsi, 21, rushed to the scene, but also failed to restrain the dogs.
“Munetsi then called Nyamutsamba, but when he arrived the girl had already died from the deep bites.”
Police shot dead the two dogs before taking Nakai’s body to Parirenyatwa Hospital for a post mortem.
Meanwhile, police are investigating a robbery which occurred in Harare.
“Eight unknown male suspects travelling in two grey Honda Fit vehicles armed with two unidentified pistols attacked three employees at a brick moulding company in Reinham, Harare,” Ass Comm Nyathi said.
“The suspects stole US$43 590 cash, three cellphones, a power bank, passport and driver’s licence.”
