CAPS United and FC Platinum served a four-goal thriller in a 2-2 stalemate in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League at the National Sports Stadium yesterday.
In other matches, Triangle thrashed Tenax 4-0, Highlanders edged Bulawayo Chiefs 1-0 and Manica Diamonds beat Harare City 2-0.
Walter Musona grabbed the opener for the champions in the 16th minute to take his tally to 12 goals this season.
Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya doubled the lead for FC Platinum in the 28th minute.
The miners enjoyed the lion’s share of possession before the break.
After the restart, Makepekepe put up a spirited fight to outperform the visitors.
Ian Nyoni reduced the deficit in the 63rd minute.
Lincoln Mangaira then levelled matters five minutes later.
FC Platinum went on a victory lap before the beginning of the match after Dynamos’ 0-1 loss to Bulawayo City.
It’s their fourth title on the trot.
Highlanders and Dynamos are the only teams to have achieved such a milestone.
It, however, remains to be seen if the platinum miners can go beyond four championships on the bounce.
Coach Norman Mapeza said the champions will cross the bridge when they get there.
“I’m happy with the way we won the league this season.
“Many had counted us out, but the boys fought very hard to win the title and it wasn’t an easy journey.
“I cannot say much about next season, we just need to finish off the season,” said Mapeza.
