Girl raped by uncle

An eight-year-old girl was reportedly raped by her uncle in Mutoko while looking for mangoes a few houses away from home.

Mashonaland East provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Simon Chazovachii, confirmed the case.

“We received a case involving an 8-year-old girl who was raped by her uncle in Mutoko. She was invited into the house by the perpetrator and raped,” he said.

Insp Chazovachii warned perpetrators of sexual abuse that police will bring them to book.

In another case, a businessman died in his shop after a gas explosion in Murehwa on Tuesday.

Kilford Moyo, 45, was alone at around 4pm when the tragedy occurred.

“The body was taken to Mutawatawa Hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem. Police are investigating a case where a businessman was found dead in his shop.

“A gas refrigerator is suspected to have exploded, and the shop caught fire. 

“One of the shop owner’s neighbours tried in vain to retrieve him,” Insp Chazovachii said.
