GIRLFRIEND BASHING: PROSECUTOR NYANDORO IN COURT

Court Reporter

PUBLIC prosecutor, Blessing Tawanda Nyandoro, appeared before the Harare Civil Court for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend, two weeks after he had called off the date they had set aside for him to pay lobola.

Mitchel Mudzongachisvo, the girlfriend, applied for and was granted a protection order after accusing the prosecutor of allegedly being abusive.

On July 19, Nyandoro was arrested for assaulting Mitchel.

She told the court that Nyadoro was in the habit of coming to her home and repeatedly assaulting her, especially after they broke up.

“My ex-boyfriend comes to my place of residence and assaults me.

“On July 17, he came to my house, l was sitting in my car before he choked me and when I managed to get out of the car he slapped me.

“On July 27, he forcefully pushed me down the stairs and l fell, he knew that l am pregnant.

“He came to my place one day, when my uncle was around, and he confronted me saying why do l sleep with other men while carrying his baby?

“I opened a docket and he started asking for forgiveness.

“He begged me to withdraw the case saying that he is a well-respected man and that l was going to ruin his reputation.

“He spent two weeks staying at my house and promised that he wanted to marry me. l turned him down saying l will not marry someone who assaults and harasses me.”

She added:

“He leaked my pictures on social media yet l supported him when his father passed away.

“I want the court to ban him from coming to my house and assaulting me.”

Nyandoro told magistrate Meenal Naratom that Mitchel was bitter because he had called off their lobola ceremony.

“She is in this court because l refused to marry her two weeks before our lobola negotiations date.

“Claims that she is pregnant are a way to force me to marry her.

“I have never begged for forgiveness, if so, she should provide the court with WhatsApp messages that prove her allegations.

“On July 27, she is the one who came to my house wearing the dress that she was supposed to wear on our lobola day, trying to beg me to marry her.

“She is just here to ensure that my reputation is destroyed and l pray that the court dismisses her application.”

Magistrate Naratom granted the protection order to Mitchel.
