Pupils from Girls College wave placards in a campaign against the abduction of 200 schools by Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram.

PUPILS from Girls College in Bulawayo took it upon themselves to campaign against the abductions of girls on 14 April in Chibok North-Eastern Borno State in Nigeria by an Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram.
Being one of the many girl schools in Africa, the school says it felt it appropriate to join in the campaign that has gone viral with celebrities and politicians worldwide bringing it to attention via social media.

The pupils have written articles, poems, created posters and artworks which will be displayed on their website.
Speaking to Sunday Leisure last Friday, pupils involved in the college’s website committee said they wanted to play their part in the whole maelstrom.

“We saw the campaign trending on social media and we thought it wise to also have our own posters and artworks campaigning about the release of these girls. We also noticed that a lot of people didn’t actually know what was happening so it is also a way of informing them,” said 17-year old Sithabile Ndlovu who is the head of the group.

Other members of the group, Wendy Liwande (17) and Ruvimbo Chitate (18) said it was a pleasure to have so much peace in Zimbabwe.
