“GIVE IT UP OR GET HURT!” – chitown thug jailed for violent jacking

A CHITUNGWIZA man who terrorised a fellow resident with threats and brute force has been caged for a brazen robbery that left the victim shaken and car-less.

Kellington Kawadza (23) will be spending the next five years behind bars after he was convicted of a violent daylight robbery that played out at the notorious Jambanja Unit M Shopping Centre, a known hotspot for all things dodgy.

According to a National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) bulletin dated 03 April 2025, Kawadza cornered Morestead Muzamba on 27 November 2024, unleashing threats and violence to force him to surrender his Nissan Hardbody, a cool US$800 in cash, his driver’s licence, and several crucial personal documents.

The Harare Provincial Magistrates’ Court didn’t flinch at the seriousness of the crime. Kawadza was slapped with an 8-year sentence, but he’ll serve 5 years effectively—two years suspended for good behaviour, and another shaved off if he coughs up US$1 000 in restitution.

Crime may pay in Chitown’s mean streets—but not for long. Kawadza found that out the hard way.
