‘Give priority to key roads’

TRANSPORT and Infrastructural Development Deputy Minister, Mike Madiro has implored road authorities to prioritise roads which are key in unlocking economic development during the Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme which is now in its second phase.

He made the remarks during a meeting with road authorities including Kwekwe City, Redcliff Municipality, Zibagwe Rural District Council as well as officials from his ministry and other stakeholders in Kwekwe on Friday.

Deputy Minister Madiro toured some of the ERRP projects in the district where he discovered that the Kwekwe-Nkayi Road has not been included in the project despite being in a bad state and key to development.

He was quick to say that his ministry will ensure that the road gets the recognition it deserves.

“I will see to it that the Kwekwe-Nkayi Road is repaired as a matter of urgency.

I will do everything in my power to see to it that the road is resurfaced given the importance of the road in the development of not only Kwekwe but also the province and the nation as a whole,” said Deputy Minister Madiro.

He urged the authorities to prioritise such roads which are of major significance in the area.
