DYNAMOS’ lengthy winning streak faces the ultimate test when they face bogey side Chicken Inn in a Castle Lager Premiership tie at Barbourfields on Sunday. The Glamour Boys have transformed themselves into the league’s team of the moment after hitting a purple patch. Team manager Richard Chihoro believes the confidence in his camp could give them an edge over coach Rahman Gumbo’s side.
Chihoro said his team will approach the game cautiously as they know what Chicken Inn are capable of producing, especially on the big stage against Dynamos.
“Chicken Inn are always tricky customers.
“This team play their best football against Dynamos which clearly shows that they are our most difficult opponents,” said Chihoro.
“We have been following them and they are really playing fantastic football this season and they can challenge for the championship. But remember, we will be playing at Barbourfields which is our second home ground.
“We always do well at Barbourfields and that is what we are exactly aiming for come Sunday.
“We are banking on our form. We cannot afford to respect a team simply because they beat us home and away last season.
“We have picked the form any team can only wish for.
“We have to take advantage of that and play to our full capacity to bag the maximum points.’’
He said his team has been buoyed by key midfielder Denver Mukamba’s decision to extend his stay at the club by, at least, another two years.
Mukamba has been pivotal in Dynamos’ resurgence, scoring crucial goals and creating for others.
“We are particularly delighted that Mukamba (Denver) is back in the team after a period of uncertainty,” said Chihoro.
“We are very happy that the player chose to remain with us and with the form he has picked, I am sure he will be very key to our progress starting with the Chicken Inn match.
“The player is improving with each passing game which is very encouraging. I am very sure, barring injuries, he will rediscover the touch that once made him a household name.”
The Glamour Boys will, for a third consecutive time, be under the guidance of assistant coach Biggie Zuze as head coach Lloyd Mutasa is away in South Africa with the Warriors for the COSAFA Castle Cup.
