Glaudina housing estate nears completion

estate, which started back in 2006, should be completed before the end of the year.
NSSA general manager Mr James Matiza said this during a tour of the housing project with NSSA board chairman Mr Innocent Chagonda and investment committee chairman Dr Christopher Hokonya.

All water and sewerage reticulation systems have been completed.
Roads are being tarred.
Some houses have already been erected by FBC Building Society, which has 100 stands on the estate.

FBC Building Society will offer mortgage to people who would prefer to buy an already completed house rather than build their own.
The building society has also been contracted to build some houses for NSSA staff.

Some individuals have reportedly built or are in the process of building houses, though most of those who purchased stands at the estate will only move on-site after installation of infrastructure is complete. Occupation of the houses will also only be allowed after the City of Harare has certified the estate as ready for occupation.
It is at this stage that title deeds will be available to those who purchased stands.

Altogether there are 394 medium density stands and 73 high density stands, a total of 467 housing stands altogether, most of which have already been sold.
There are only 113 stands still available for purchase.
In addition there are three stands available for flats development, eight commercial stands, one church stand, a secondary school stand and a civic centre stand, which makes the project a total package.

Work on providing infrastructure for the suburb began in 2006, but stopped the following year, as a result of challenges the contractor was experiencing related to the difficult economic environment at the time. Work only resumed in June this year and projected should be completed by the end of this year.

Once the current infrastructure development is complete, NSSA plans to develop, some distance away, but on the same property, that was at one time a farm, about 2 000 high-density housing stands.
The estate, which will become Harare’s latest suburb, is situated on the Harare-Bulawayo road.

NSSA has been involved in various housing and infrastructure development projects in small towns, including the US$22 million Beitbridge Hotel.
The social security authority early this year completed servicing of 770 high-density housing stands and constructed 250 houses in Marondera.
