All is set for a Zanu PF campaign rally in Glen View South today, which will see a US$200 000 Presidential Empowerment Fund being launched to benefit the area’s residents.

The rally comes two days before the constituency’s by-election that is scheduled for Saturday.

Also expected to attend are Zanu PF Harare Provincial Chair, Cde Godwills Masimirembwa and Cde Charles Tavengwa, the party’s Secretary for Education, Research and Ideology, who also serves as the Minister of State for Harare Metropolitan Provincial Affairs and Devolution.

Speaking ahead of the event, Zanu PF Harare Provincial Political Commissar, Cde Voyage Dambuza said: “It is all systems go for the by-election. Glen View South Constituency used to be an opposition stronghold, but we are determined to win this seat.”

Cde Dambuza highlighted recent developments in the area and attributed them to the ruling party.

This includes the rehabilitation of 11th Avenue road, the installation of over 11 solar-powered boreholes under the Presidential Borehole Scheme, and the establishment of an ICT Centre.

He said the US$200 000 fund being launched at the rally will provide revolving loans for vendors and other residents to initiate projects.

“President Mnangagwa has spearheaded several empowerment programmes in the area to improve the livelihoods of the people. Residents are receiving support through chicks, loans, training, and various other empowerment initiatives. I am confident of victory,” she said.
