DEFENDING Rainbow Netball League champions Glow Petroleum will seek to extend their unbeaten run when they visit Khami Netball Club tomorrow.
The defending champions are unbeaten in this year’s campaign, sitting at the top of the 18-team table with 28 points from 14 matches.
Tenax who have played a game more are on position two with 26 points, while Correctional Services are third on 24 points.
Khami are in position five with 20 points from 14 games.
Glow Petroleum coach Perpertua Siyachitema said: “The goal is for us to reach the halfway mark unbeaten. We brought in two new players this season from Platinum Queens, Tanaka Makusha and Hamunyari Govera and they have done well in the side. This is a competitive league and we just want to win our games.”
Siyachitema played netball for over two decades before she stopped playing and pursued a coaching career.
The 39-year-old made her debut appearance for the national team at the age of 19 and has since been a strong force to reckon with in the netball squad.
She helped Zimbabwe qualify for their first-ever World Cup tournament in 2018 as captain of the side.
The team went on to finish eighth making a record of the second-best team tied up with Malawi to finish in the top eight in their debut appearance.
Some of the netball players participating in the RNL will be hoping to impress national team selectors and be included in Zimbabwe’s squad for the 2023 World Cup set for Cape Town, South Africa from July 28 to August 6.
Zimbabwe were drawn in Pool A together with former champions Australia, Tonga and Fiji.
