The Grain Marketing Board (GMB) has since April paid US$38 million to wheat farmers and is in the process of clearing the balance.

This was revealed in a statement on Monday.

GMB’s chief executive officer, Dr Edson Badarai said the outstanding balance was US$5,3 million.

“The Grain Marketing Board advises its esteemed farmers and stakeholders of the significant progress made in clearing wheat farmers’ payments.

“Today, GMB paid US$10 million to farmers, bringing the payments made so far to US$38,3 million. The consistent release of funds from Treasury demonstrates the Government’s commitment to its promise to support farmers as we head towards wheat-based food security,” reads part of the statement.
