TWO GMB security guards, alleged to have swindled the Command Agriculture scheme of inputs worth $1 512 000, appeared in court yesterday.

Norest Dapi (52) and Paul Jinhu (42) appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi, who remanded them in custody to September 15 for bail application. The complainant is GMB Mt Hampden Depot, in Harare. It is the State’s case that between August 31 and September 5, Dapi and Jinhu hatched a plan to  steal inputs.

They stole 14×12 batteries from tractors parked in the yard, awaiting distribution, under the Command Agriculture Presidential Programme.

The total value of the batteries stolen is $1 512 000 and nothing was recovered.

Pardon Dziva represented the State.
