FROM netting goals to winning souls!
Chicken Inn’s speedy striker Michael Charamba has shocked the football world by becoming an ordained Pastor, proving that his boots are just as blessed off the pitch as they are on it.
Charamba (29), known for terrorising defenders in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, is now scoring for the Kingdom after receiving his ordination at the Apostolic Bishops Network College (ABN) in Kwekwe. He now ministers under the Tabernacle of Grace and Fire Ministries.
“It’s not something I wished for, but it was a calling from God,” said the usually soft-spoken forward. “Pursuing Theology stems from a desire to understand spiritual truths, serve others, and make a positive impact in the community.”

Charamba, still active on the field for Simbisa Brands-backed Gamecocks, says he wears both hats proudly. He believes football and faith are not worlds apart because they’re both missions.
Quoting 1 Timothy 6:12, the Soccer Star of the Year finalist said:
“Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”
Despite his busy football schedule, Charamba managed to balance his pastoral training with precision.
“There’s time for training, resting, and studying. It’s about discipline,” said the Kwekwe-born star.

He also cleared the air on whether he’s related to the iconic gospel music power couple Baba and Amai Charamba.
“I’m not related to them, but I find great inspiration in their dedication and faith,” he said.
Charamba, a former Amani High School pupil, added that while he doesn’t stand on the touchline delivering sermons, he leads by example.

“I don’t necessarily preach to my teammates, but I try to inspire them through how I live. The Bible in 1 Timothy 4:12 says be an example in speech, life, love, faith and purity. So I lead through actions,” he said.
Married to Loveness Kasana, Charamba is a proud father of four: Shannel (6), Nathaniel (4), and twin boys Amiel and Lemuel (2).
From Amaveni to Barbourfields to the pulpit, Michael Charamba is living proof that some goals come from above!
