Goche calls for caution on the roads

and Infrastructural Development Minister, Nicholas Goche, in a statement yesterday, urged all motorists to use the roads wisely and observe traffic rules and regulations.
“Regarding all public service vehicles, particularly rural bus operators, I urge you to provide a safe and timely service, which should see everybody being carried to their destination safely,” he said.
He encouraged bus operators to maintain their normal timetables and warned that violation of timetables would lead to possible cancellation of route authorities.
“Unscrupulous bus operators who overwork their drivers all for the sake of maximising profits and putting the lives of passengers at risk are abhorred in the transport industry,” he said.
Public service operators, he said, should not overcharge passengers who will be travelling for the holidays. He said those caught hiking fares would be heavily punished.
