Gold panner shot dead in Bindura

A 31-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested in Bindura after he shot and killed a gold panner who was part of a group that was prospecting for gold at Kitsiyatota Gold panning site.

The victim has been identified as Justice Padzuru.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.

“On March 28, 2026, police in Bindura arrested Sharelight Ncube, aged 31, in connection with a murder which occurred at Kitsiyatota Gold Panning Site,” he said.

“The suspect allegedly shot Padzuru Justice, who was part of a group of illegal gold miners prospecting for gold near the railway line.”

Meanwhile, police have also confirmed the arrest of Munyaradzi Takundwa (45) in connection with a murder case which occurred in Dombotombo, Marondera, on March 28, 2026.

The suspect allegedly struck his brother, Simbarashe Takundwa (41), once on the head with a shovel following a misunderstanding over a cellphone.

The victim died at the scene.
