GOLDEN EAGLES are out to rattle the cage when they face log leaders N’ombeyawora at The Heart Stadium this afternoon in a high stakes Northern Region Soccer League clash.

N’ombeyawora sit on 76 points, just one ahead of second placed AGAMA, making every fixture crucial in a tense title run in. The Eagles, third with 62 points, may be out of the championship race, but coach Arthur Gorejena insists his side still has something to prove.

“We’ll approach this match with a solid game plan, focusing on exploiting N’ombeyawora’s weaknesses and neutralising their strengths,” said Gorejena.

“Our strategies include tight marking to limit their key players’ impact, quick transitions to catch them off guard, and making full use of set pieces.”

The coach said control of the midfield will be vital in shaping the result.

“If you look at both sides, they’ve got set piece specialists. For us, we have Munyaradzi Mushanga, Trevor Bhunu, and Tatenda Hapazari, while N’ombeyawora boast Tadiwa Chibunyu, Huni, and goalkeeper Dean Togara. It’s going to be a match of fine details.”

For Gorejena, matching last season’s points tally with five games still to play is already a source of pride.

“Reaching 62 points last weekend was significant because that’s where we finished last season,” he said. “This game is another crucial step toward making this the best season in Golden Eagles history. We’ll focus on executing our strategy and taking our chances.”

Meanwhile, second placed AGAMA have their own challenge as they visit army side Black Rhinos at Commando Barracks.
