Golden Easy Delivery to revolutionise on-demand services in Zimbabwe

A Bulawayo entrepreneur is set to shake up Zimbabwe’s on-demand services sector with the launch of a new platform designed to bring food, groceries, and medication straight to customers’ doorsteps.

Founder of Golden Easy Delivery, Bhekokuhle Dube, who runs a successful travel agency, Easytravelex, and lives in the United Arab Emirates, says the idea was born out of exposure to more advanced delivery systems abroad, and the frustration of finding limited options back home.

“I noticed a clear gap in the market. Each time I came home, I realised how inconvenient it was to move around just to get essentials. That’s when I knew there was an opportunity to build something better,” Dube said.

Set to launch in Bulawayo in June before rolling out nationwide, Golden Easy Delivery aims to offer fast, reliable, and user-friendly service through a mobile application in development. Users will simply register on the app, place an order, and have their items delivered directly to their homes or workplaces.

Dube said the goal is to simplify everyday life while modernising access to essential goods.

“We want to make life easier. It should be possible for someone to order what they need and receive it without stress or delay,” he said.

Once fully operational, the service is expected to expand to other cities across Zimbabwe, positioning itself as a key player in the country’s growing digital economy.

Below is an in-depth interview with Bhekokuhle Dube.

Q: What inspired the creation of Golden Easy Delivery?

A: Accessing food, groceries, and medication in Zimbabwe still requires people to travel physically, even for basic needs. We saw how difficult this is, especially for those in rural areas who must travel long distances to town. Having experienced efficient delivery systems while abroad, particularly in the Diaspora, we realised the gap at home. Golden Easy Delivery was created to bring that same convenience to Zimbabwe, making it easier for people to order what they need and have it delivered to them, whether in urban or rural areas.

Q: What does the name “Golden Easy Delivery” represent?

A: The name reflects our promise to customers, delivering value in a simple, effortless way. Everything about the service is designed to be easy and seamless, like cutting margarine with a hot knife.

Q: Why did you choose Bulawayo as the launch city?

A: We chose Bulawayo because it is my hometown and the starting point of this journey. As citizens, we all have a responsibility to contribute to its growth, including creating jobs and driving development.

Q: How can people register and start using the app?

A: The GED app is user-friendly and designed for anyone comfortable using a smartphone. Once ready, it will be available on both Apple and Android devices. Registration takes less than a minute, after which users can browse a range of restaurants and place their orders easily.

Q: What services will users be able to access on the platform?

A: We are initially starting with food and pharmaceutical deliveries. Grocery delivery will be introduced in the next phase as we expand the service.

Q: What makes your service different from other delivery options already available?

A: We are introducing more variety, including restaurants that serve traditional food. Customers will also benefit from monthly subscriptions that offer free deliveries, along with rewards programmes and discounts from partner restaurants. For restaurants, the platform will serve as both a delivery and marketing tool, allowing them to update menus, manage stock availability, and accept or reject orders in real time.

Q: How will you ensure speed, reliability, and safety in deliveries?

A: We plan to hire sufficient staff and establish a strong customer service team to track, monitor and follow up on every order. This will help ensure timely, reliable and safe deliveries.

Q: What is your rollout plan after Bulawayo?

A: After launching in Bulawayo, we plan to expand to Harare, followed by other major cities. From there, we will move into more remote areas to cover all major urban centres in Zimbabwe by 2030.

Q: How do you see this platform impacting everyday life for Zimbabweans?

A: At launch, we expect to create around 20 to 30 jobs, mainly for young people, helping reduce unemployment and its associated challenges, such as drug abuse and crime. Beyond employment, the platform will make it easier for users to access meals and essential products, while also helping service providers reach a wider customer base and grow their businesses.

Q: How are you supporting local businesses through this platform?

A: Many local businesses currently rely on car hire services for deliveries, which can be costly, especially with high fuel prices. Our platform will help reduce that burden while giving businesses a wider market reach and better access to customers.

Q: How do you plan to stay competitive in the delivery space?

A: We aim to stay competitive by prioritising speed, consistency, and customer needs. We will also continuously improve our service based on customer feedback.

Q: Where do you see Golden Easy Delivery in the next three to five years?

A: We see Golden Easy Delivery operating in at least five major cities. Before expanding beyond Zimbabwe, our focus is to fully cover all high-demand areas within the country.

Q: When are you planning to launch?

A: We are targeting a launch date of June 30. At the moment, we are recruiting staff and finalising the necessary registrations with the relevant authorities.

Q: In one sentence, what is the core promise of Golden Easy Delivery?

A: Our core promise is to put smiles on people’s faces by delivering convenience and goodness straight to their doorsteps.
