MUTARE’S Golden Peacock Villa Hotel has completed construction of a four-storey block, adding 56 rooms to its existing 83 rooms in a move expected to boost tourism in the eastern part of the country.
It now has 139 rooms and ranks among the biggest hotels in Mutare.
The three-star hotel seats on 7 438 square metres on land allocated to Anjin Investments by Mutare City Council.
Anjin Investments is a Chinese-owned diamond mining firm operating at Chiadzwa.
When The Herald visited the hotel yesterday, workmen were putting final touches to the magnificent structure which has changed the face of Mutare.
Management at the hotel was mum when asked when the new structure would be open for use.
“Come after 10 days and we will give you all the information you need. You will also be able to access our news rooms,” said a manager at the hotel after consulting head office.
Golden Peacock Hotel is an international brand headquartered in Asia with a presence in a number of countries in Southern Africa including Zambia and Mozambique.
In Zimbabwe, the Golden Peacock Villa Hotel was commissioned in July 2012.
