NOTHING is for free, especially in the world of the rough and tough gold panners popularly known as omakorokoza.
As such, one panner that had spent money on a woman didna��t take kindly when she left with another panner for the night at Loreto Business Centre on Friday.
Mbiko Dube showed his claws when Patience Moyo, a vivacious woman who goes by the moniker Dunkulu,A� was seen entering a room with another guy.
a�?I confronted Dunkulu after seeing her walking to a room with another guy. When I got closer to them a group of guys came from behind accusing me of snatching their lady,a�? he said.
Dube became furious since he had paid Dunkulua��s rent and given her pocket money.
But the man who was with her was not prepared to lose her to Dube.
Dube was axed twice on the head by the gang as Dunkulu left with an unnamed Zhombe man.
a�?He sustained a deep cut on the head and collapsed as a result,a�? said a police source.
The police are yet to locate the culprits and Dunkulu is now in police custody.
The Midlands deputy police spokesperson,A� Ethel Mukwende was unreachable for comment.
But the Member of Parliament for Silobela, Mthokozisi Manoki Mpofu implored the police to act swiftly and arrest those responsible.
a�?The police should act fast and track down the culprits. We are fed up with these illegal miners who fight in the area.
Most of them are not from this place. They bring our community into disrepute and leave,a�? he fumed.
