A GOLF Tournament to raise funds for Inyathi High School will be held at the Bulawayo Golf Club (BGC) with 60 participants expected to tee off on Saturday.
The golf tournament is organised by the Former Inyathi Students Association (Fisa) but is open to all interested golfers.
a?The Inyathi High School Golf Tournament has become an annual event as former students fundraise to purchase a school bus and also erect a school boundary fence. Apart from golf we will also hold an auction, which over the years has created a lot of interest among former students,a? said tournament spokesperson Lupho Mthimkhulu.
Registration is pegged at $20 per player.
The tournament will be played using a four-ball-better ball format.
Four ball is a match pitting two teams of two players (a total of four balls being played, hence the name) against each other using better ball scoring.
All four players play their own ball throughout and at the end of each hole, the low score between the two players on each team is that teamas score.
Teeing off is expected just after mid morning and players can register on the day of the competition.
Former Highlanders chairman Roger Muhlwa and other former students are expected to tee off.
The competition being held at the countryas oldest golf club is also ironic in that Inyathi High School ranks among the oldest schools in the country, having been built in the 1850s.
