Golf tri-nations in Zim

Three teams Botswana, Zambia and hosts Zimbabwe will take part in the bi-annual event, which will be played in singles and foursomes format. The tournament was last held in Botswana in 2010.
Jean McKenzie captained the side which had eight players while Gweru Golf Club based Nancy Dube led the B division at the event.

United States based Rumbi Masambu managed a second place while McKenzie was third as the other Zimbabwean representative Jay Lah was counted out on fourth place by a Zambian player.
Zimbabwe will be under the guidance of veteran coach Cathy Riley who felt that the team will do well and the preparations are going on well.

“We have started training and the girls are doing very well. I hope we are going to do well in the event.
“The preparations have started on a high note and everyone is raring to go.
“We have played the teams already and we look forward to maintain our good record.

“The Northern neighbours Zambia always give us a strong challenge but we will try our best,” said Riley.
Meanwhile no Zimbabwean golfer will take part in 2012 Sunshine Tour South Africa Women’s Open which is set for Selborne Park Club from 13 to 15 July.
The tournament has attracted 84 entries from across the globe.
