Jefferies going for third race

Jefferies (18) is making his debut appearance in Formula Two racing this year in which he first raced at Nurburgring in Germany towards the end of May and at Spa Francorchamps in Belgium two weeks ago.
Formula Two is just one rung behind the world’s most popular Formula One racing.
At Nurburgring, Jefferies failed to last the distance in his first appearance in Formula Two this season when his car caught fire during a warm-up lap.

Jefferies’ car caught fire and was engulfed in flames, dashing his hopes of a podium place during rounds five and six of the 2012 Formula Two series. The young Zimbabwean driver then had a chance to redeem himself in his next race at Spa Francorchamps in Belgium two weeks ago.
But his dreams of a maiden victory in Formula Two were once again shattered when the event was rained off during the final day of racing on June 24. At Spa

Francorchamps, Jefferies had qualified 8th in the morning of June 24 in dry conditions, then the heavens opened up in the afternoon, forcing the organisers to end the event prematurely.

Young Jefferies has now turned his attention to next weekend’s racing at Brands Hatch in the UK where he is once again expected to raise the Zimbabwean flag high.
In fact, Jefferies said yesterday he was looking forward to the July 13-15 event at Brands Hatch where he is also hoping to have a lot of support from fellow Zimbabweans who are based in the UK.

“(I am) looking forward to lots of Zimbabwean flags and support!!! Let’s Do It!!,” Jefferies wrote in the social network, Facebook, yesterday.
The FIA Formula Two Championship returns to Brands Hatch for the fourth time in 2012, with budding F1 stars, including Zimbabwe’s Jefferies, all keen to show their pace as the midpoint of the season approaches.

Last season’s visit to Brands Hatch saw two new winners in F2, with Jack Clarke and Ramon Pineiro taking the honours, with Brands Hatch acting as the launch pad for Pineiro’s superb end to the season.

The International GT Open series also headlines, with its usual mix of supercar exotica from Ferrari, Porsche, Aston Martin and more all set to do battle around the Brands Hatch GP circuit.

But the spotlight at Brands Hatch next weekend is likely to fall on the F2 race and hundreds of UK-based Zimbabweans are expected to throng this popular motor racing venue to give their full support to young Jefferies as he represents his beloved African country.

Jefferies is also getting some good backing from Afri-Hype, an Africa focused private equity company which is based in Zimbabwe.
Afri-Hype in May committed itself to sponsor the promising young Zimbabwean driver during the whole of the 2012 Formula Two season overseas.  This came after Jefferies father, Suhail, met the representatives of this company in Dubai where the sponsorship deal was sealed.
