TWO Kwekwe men will forever regret the day they assisted armed robbers who pretended as if their vehicle had developed a mechanical fault but later turned against them and robbed them of US$2 000.

Police confirmed the incident which occurred on 16 December around 7PM at Truckers Inn just outside Kwekwe.

“On the day Edson and Kidson Kutyauripo were on their way from Jena Mines in Silobela while driving a white Mazda familiar vehicle. They decided to take a rest at Truckers Inn where they were approached by unknown suspects,” said Midlands Police Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko.

The suspects pretended as if they needed assistance from the two complainants to mend their punctured tyre.

Suddenly one of the suspects started assaulting Kidson with fists demanding money.

Another suspect drew a knife from his pockets and threatened to kill the complainants.

“Sensing danger, Kidson took to his heels leaving Edson at the mercy of the three suspects. They continued assaulting him all over the body before they searched him and took US$2 000 from his pockets,” said Inspector Mahoko.

The suspects then got into their vehicle, a Subaru registration ADR 2970 and sped off towards Kwekwe CBD leaving Edson at the scene.

“We appeal for information that may assist in the arrest of the culprits and members of the public are welcome to approach any police station,” said Inspector Mahoko.
