A HARARE man lost his car to two men who had masqueraded as passengers.

Norman Mukorombindo (26) and Fanuel Chibwe (23), both from Hopely Zone 6, pretended to be looking for transport from Mashwede Complex, in Glen View, to the Central Business District.

The unnamed complainant, who was driving a Honda Fit, offered the two a lift. When he was close to Aspindale Green Market the two wrestled with him and tied his hands.

It is alleged that they searched him and stole US$10, iPhone XR and iPhone 11 and dumped him.

The two drove off in the complainant’s car.

Investigations led to the recovery of the cellphones and recovery of the stolen vehicle.

Magistrate Dennis Mangosi advised Mukorombindo and Chibwe to approach the High Court for bail application since they were facing a third schedule offence.

They will be back in court on March 17.
