FORMER Greenfuel defender, Tatenda “Mashanana” Gora, has won the hearts of many fans at Gaborone United in Botswana.
Since joining the club this season, Gora has made eight appearances and inspired the team to five clean sheets.
Due to his consistency and solid showing, Gora is now called “ROADBLOCK.”
Gora helped Greenfuel win the Eastern Region Division One league title in 2022 in a campaign they finished unbeaten.
Gora was also influential in helping the team survive relegation in their debut Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season before he made his move to Gaborone United.
Gaborone United are a powerhouse in Botswana and they have seven titles.
Currently, they are in third place and nine points adrift of log leaders Jwaneng Galaxy.
On Saturday, Gora inspired his side to a 2-0 victory over Eleven Angels in a match he put on a man-of-the-match show.
“My contribution to the team so far has been crucial and that has earned me the trust of the coach, who now believes in my capabilities and has helped me to do an excellent job for the team.
“My fellow teammates have helped me a lot to feel at home and allowed me to apply myself in a way I know best.
“I believe every other player is comfortable playing alongside a player who applies himself correctly. That has made me vibe well with the rest of the team.
“It always feels good to have the supporters behind your back.”
He added:
“Each time they see me on the field of play they say they always feel safe. They are already calling me ‘ROADBLOCK’ in capital letters.
“Now, looking forward, the idea is to try to continue helping the team collect maximum points in all our remaining encounters.
“That can be only assured by having more clean sheets. For now, the focus is on our next fixture against Security System in the Orange Cup.
“We are the defending champions and we would like to retain the cup this season.”
