GOSPEL musician, Leader Changonda, has expressed his admiration for veteran gospel star, Charles Charamba.
Changonda, who now has nine years making gospel music, said his dream was to make powerful music, which touches people, the way Charamba has done.
“When you scrutinise our gospel industry, there are very few, or no musicians, who can express the preaching art like what Charamba does.
“He is a preacher with inspiring and touching messages which resonate with our lives.
“He is the only musician who managed to connect his art with the bible stories in a unique way and coming out with the beautiful art,” he said.
He also blasted those who imitate Charamba.
“Though I admire his art to that extent, I would not want to imitate the way he sings.
“I would love to be different, though taking some notes, which I have tried for the past nine years.
“It’s not good for the art when you hear other musicians copying his voice and style.
“I will not mention names, it’s bad for the art. Let’s create our own art not to duplicate and replicate the art of other musicians,” said Changonda.
Chagonda recently released a seven-track album called Humambo Hwangu Hurimunzira.
It carries tracks like David AvaMambo, Tinotadzira Mwari and Mapoporodzi among others.
He now has five albums to his credit namely Alpha And Omega (2013), Gara Wafara (2015), Mapakatwa (2017), Mwari Rudo (2029) and the current project Humambo Hwangu Hurimunzira.
