THIS Friday, lovers of the gospel genre are set to be mesmerised when up-and-coming artiste, Lindiwe Nomagugu Donga premieres her debut single and visuals, “Ngilendumiso” on YouTube.

This powerful thanksgiving song, sung in IsiNdebele, is a celebration of Donga’s cultural roots and her heart of gratitude.

Donga’s journey is a testament to determination and faith. She told Chronicle Showbiz how being raised by her single mother, Reokelitsoe Dube, a teacher and entrepreneur, made her a resilient person early on in life.

“I was raised by a single mother, a hustler who would cross borders every weekend to buy things for selling. My father was never really there and my mother fended for us and taught us resilience,” she said.

She attended Amaveni Primary School, JZ Moyo High School, and later Ihlathi High School before pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management at Lupane State University (LSU). She is awaiting graduation for her Masters degree in Business Leadership at LSU.

Donga’s love for music was nurtured at Assemblies Of God Church and later at Divine Kingdom Baptist Church.

Her inspiration, Minister Takesure Zamar, has been a guiding light in her musical journey.

“The burning desire to do God’s work inspired me to be an artiste. For years, I had been focusing on my academics but I felt like it was time to work for God while I still can,” she said.

Despite facing financial struggles and criticism, she has pushed through, driven by her passion for music and her desire to serve God.

Her debut single “Ngilendumiso” is a fruit of her labour, produced by Sam Mabhena and featuring a talented team of musicians.

“My debut song is all about gratitude. I’m basically thanking God for what He has done for me, even when I didn’t deserve them. I also thank him for the ones He is yet to give me,” said Donga, also known as Mamthimthukhulu.

Her debut marks the beginning of an exciting musical journey, with her promising collaborations and worship vibes in the pipeline.
