Upcoming gospel musician, Blessing Muchichwa has released a six track debut album entitled Mheremhere as his endeavour to motivate Zimbabweans and the world about the significance of perseverance in Christ.
Besides the title track, the other tracks on the album are Anomira neni, Tirivakundi, My prayer, Gorerino and Kufanana naJesu.
Speaking to The Weekender, Muchichwa (27) said his album is an assurance to people that victory is certain for those who will believe in God in everything that they do.
“My album carries messages from the Bible and through it, I was trying to encourage people to keep the faith and wait upon the Lord in any situation. For instance, the title track speaks about how a person’s life can be transformed if they allow God to touch them.
Blessing also revealed that he started his music career in 2001 when he was a bass guitarist for gospel band, Orchestra Tough.
Muchichwa however stated that financial constraints were the major setback in releasing his album.
“Financing this project was quite a challenge but I eventually pulled through. Another impediment is that people in Zimbabwe are quite skeptical about upcoming musicians. I am quite hopeful though that this project will be a success,” he said.
Asked from whom he draws his inspiration, Muchichwa mentioned Oliver Mtukudzi and Blessing Shumba as his role models.
Said Muchichwa: “I have come to understand that Blessing Shumba’s music is more about teaching not competition and of course Tuku’s music is exceptionally unique. These two are my role models and whenever I sing I aspire to continuously learn from them.”
Muchichwa went on to urge other upcoming artistes to persevere and remain visionary if they intend to blossom in Zimbabwe’s music career.
