Gospel lovers in Harare are set to be thrilled this Saturday, as musical outfits Gospel Power and Vabati vaJehova will be headliner acts for a concert dubbed “New Creation Gospel Concert” at Old Rainbow Cinema.
The much anticipated show will be hosted by Eagles Fellowship International Church and other artistes billed to perform include Pastor G, Mechanic Manyeruke, Pastor Haisa, Mabel Madondo, Nyasha Mutonhori and Jonah Chivasa.
Gospel Power and Vabati VaJehova have a huge following and are set to thrill gospel music enthusiasts. Gospel Power is popularly known for their hit songs “Kana Zvamubata”, and “Tafura” which became an anthem at most weddings since mid-2000s.
The crew went into hibernation for three years and returned with a bang a few months ago with a single titled “Handiburuke” which made waves on most gospel chart shows.
The group has produced four albums “Akubhekumusa”, “Kana Zvamubata”, “Achapindura” and “Kunyarara”. In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, Gospel Power’s front man Pastor Lawrence Gunda said they were looking forward to a great show.
“Fans should expect a memorable act that they will always cherish and I am encouraging you to come in your numbers as we celebrate the goodness and kindness of God in our lives. You will be spiritually uplifted,” he said.
Apostolic choral group Vabati VaJehova rose to prominence with their hit single “Anouya Chete”, making a staple in the local music scene but they have not impacted in recent times.
Recently they dropped a new album titled “Tivavarire Denga” and will be performing some of the songs on the night. According to the show organiser Pastor Thembinkosi Dliwayo, the concert is meant to unite Christians across all denominations.
“The year has come to an end and I decided to create an event that brings Christians from various denominations under one roof and music is the best tool,” he said.
“This will be a day of praising and worshipping God, thanking him for the works he performed in our lives in this whole year.”
More gospel concerts will be held countrywide.
“We are going to hold these shows in different parts of the country as we aim to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ through music. We want to win more souls to the Kingdom of God,” Pastor Dliwayo said.
