BULAWAYO gospel quartet, Gospel Impact has released a 13 track album which they hope will announce them on the local music scene after a stint in South Africa.
The group which is made up of Lawrence Moyo, Abigail Moyo, Similo Moyo and Knowledge Nkiwane has been based in South
Africa where they went in search of greener pastures. They believe that their sojourn south of the border has gained them the measure of success that they were aiming towards.
In an interview, founder of the group, Lawrence Moyo said that they had decided to come home and promote their new album because they wanted to attain the same measure of success with their music that was on par with what they had achieved in South Africa.
“We came back to promote the album back home because we wanted to be as successful here in Zimbabwe and Bulawayo, as we had been in South Africa,” said Moyo.
He said they were planning to do many shows in the city and promised to give electrifying performances like they had done in South Africa. He said they had managed to rub shoulders with some of the greats in the gospel music scene like Derrick Nzimande and Amos Mphahlele.
“We are going to be doing many shows in the city were we are looking forward to thrilling fans. The performances in South Africa where we shared the stage with some of the greats in the music scene from that country stand us in good stead,” he said.
The album will be the group’s 4th effort, with their three previous albums released in 2003, 2008, and 2011. Moyo said although they had been based in South Africa temporarily, they were now here to stay.
“We are here to stay now and would like people to get a proper taste of our music,” he said.
Moyo, a teacher by profession, although the group members were based in Botswana, Zimbabwe and South Africa the cost of bringing the group members together did not matter that much, as music was the ultimate winner.
