Gospel show presenter swaps roles

The musician-cum-presenter said she has engaged the services of expert producer Mono Mukundu on the 12-track album due for release next month.
“All I can promise for now is that the album is going to be amazing. It is a reflection of the brand new me with only four ‘praise’ songs while the rest are going to be worship songs,” she said.

Kahwema, formerly Muthunzi, made waves when she used to back Pastor Lawrence Haisa before she went solo.
“I learnt a lot so much from working with the likes of Pastor Haisa about understanding the calling to sing gospel music. In the near future I would like to collaborate with him.

Just like Joyce Meyer who is on record as saying preaching comes easier to her since she is a vocal person I also find it easier to sing to people since I have good commutations skills,” she said.

The mother of one said her inspiration comes from people like Benjamin Dube and Cece Winans. She made reference to verses in the Bible that said God speaks to his people when they worship Him.

“The upcoming album will contain four praise songs while the rest will be worship songs. My aim is to draw people closer to God through ministering with my music,” she said.

The presenter also took the time to acknowledge the positive strides being taken by gospel artistes. She said the music as well as the videos have improved greatly over the years with artistes shying away from the usual concepts of park themes.

“Gospel artistes have become more creative. You no longer see people going to the ‘rock’ videos at the same time Zimbabweans in the Diaspora are getting more involved and sending through their songs,” she said.
