THE Zimbabwe International Trade Fair hall was turned into both a place of worship and praise on Sunday when some of Zimbabwe’s top gospel artistes came together in song and worship sending the bumper crowd into delirium. The concert can best be summarised as exhilarating, spiritually uplifting and a showcase of great talent.

A bumper crowd turned up for the mega concert that saw them witnessing the electrifying and spiritual performances that sealed the Word of Life Conference on Sunday.

First on stage were local groups, Vocal X and Word of Gospel Choir. The tempo rose to a much higher level after Zimbabwe’s trailblasing interdenominational group, Zimpraise, made a grand entrance on stage.

The Sungano hit-makers sent the audience wild with sing-along tracks such as Over and Over, Ndasunungurwa, Modimo; this is the Day, Zvakanaka Mwoyo Wangu and Mwari Muri.

The packed hall saw fans from various Christian denominations dancing and screaming with joy. Zimpraise had a two-hour vibrant performance that kept everyone in the hall on their feet.

Zimbabwe’s godfat-her of gospel revolution Pastor G joined the Harare-based outfit and put up a marvelous performance taking fans down memory lane with tracks such as Blessing (I wanna thank you) and chart-topper Mabiribobi. Though his performance was short, it left fans in awe as they marvelled at his energy considering his body size.

Man-of-the-moment, Mathius Mhere was equal to task and had the crowd screaming Favour after the master of ceremony called him onto the stage.

Clad in navy blue pants and a matching checked shirt, Mhere, who was racing against time, got onto the stage and performed Munhu Wamwari and Vimba na Mwari before winding his performance with the track Favour.

Backed by a five-member band, Mhere’s live performance was unique as he cemented his show with lively dances.

Last on stage was Bulawayo’s own Takesure Ncube whose performance was a shift from the energetic, praise performances to deep worship. The crowd had already set the tone for him as they sang the hit track Prayer for Zimbabwe. However, Ncube decided to mark his presence on stage with the traditional hymn, Ndimambo Wekudenga.

Some of the tracks he performed included Munoziva Kusasimba Kwangu, Umoya Wami Uyadinga and Prayer for Zimbabwe.
Even when the curtain came down, some die-hard fans stayed behind momentarily.

The show was value for money for the young and old who endured more than four hours of spiritual food.

Word of Life of founder, Dr Goodwill Shana, gave a prayer to end both the conference and concert and thanked the musicians, speakers and delegates who made the conference a success.
