Gospel singer bounces back

intentions of getting back into the studio because of the challenges I faced from my previous album,” said Maneni.
Jennifer, who is best remembered for her hit gospel track, “Handimbomira Kunamata”, two years ago, blamed the Zimbabwe Music Company for her demise, saying it failed to market her album well at a time her song was receiving good airplay.
“The response I got from gospel lovers was overwhelming but then they could not get the album in shops and some people had to call me asking for them,” she said.
Jennifer is a seasoned musician who has worked with the likes of Mercy Mutsvene, Don Chibaya and Fungisai Zvakavapano-Mashavave with whom she performed as a backing vocalist.
“I got the inspiration from my fans and relatives this year to get back into the studio and as we speak the album is at an advanced stage though I have not yet named it,” she said. She believes recording her new album with a new company will not starve her fans.
“I have dumped ZMC and decided to go to Shed Studios hoping that they will adequately distribute my new baby,” she said.
Jennifer, who has already shown that she is a talented artiste with good voice intonation, has been a backing vocalist for years, something that spurred her to start working on her own musical projects.
“I worked for some time as a backing vocalist for Chibaya and I have also been doing the same for Fungisai Zvakavapano-Mashavave,” she said.
Jennifer, who is passionate about music, started singing while she was in secondary school as attested by her participation in the school choir.  Even after finishing school, she continued to nurture her passion, a development that saw her joining different musical outfits so that she could further develop her vocals.
