Gospel star enthralls Vic Falls

Shumba and his “partners” as he calls his band did not even show fatigue after having played along the gospel couple Pastor Charles and Olivia Charamba, at the Aquatic Complex in Chitungwiza on Saturday at a Methodist Church fundraising concert.

Shumba played most of his popular songs that included Hama, Mufaro, Rumbidzo and Zita renyu leaving the crowd asking for more.

He was backed by Bethany Pasinawako of the Ndinzwerei fame and his producer Lyton Ngolomi was on one of the keyboards doing what he knows best.

To put icing on the cake, Pasinawako took the mike and dished out some of the songs that made her popular much to the delight of the crowd.

As they say “local is lekker”, Victoria Falls’ own product and gospel artiste Blessing Nyagwaya took to the stage when Shumba and his partners took a break.

By his standards Nyagwaya did not disappoint as he displayed energetic dances which entertained the crowd.

Nyagwaya played songs such as Muviri wako, Moyo wangu and Ishe Komborera Zimbabwe.

Speaking after the show Shumba said he had found a way of reaching to all people through music.

He said some people who did not go to church  would receive the Word through his music.

“I am a pastor at my church and I also reach other people during my shows and through my music. Music is part time and I use the platform to preach the word. People who do not go to church, but attend my shows will receive the word of salvation because everyone must know that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the light”.

Shumba said he longed to have a show in Victoria Falls as he had already been to most of the border towns including Beitbridge.

He also said that he was working on a new album which would be released by the end of the year.

The show organiser Robson Vunganai who also sang one song said he was excited about the turnout adding that he was working on bringing more artistes to the entertainment starved resort town.
