RUSAPE Town Council has launched its 2026 Chairman’s Cheer Fund, appealing to the business community, churches, non-governmental organisations, and residents to support vulnerable members of society through donations.

The annual initiative mobilises resources to assist disadvantaged groups, particularly those in need of food, clothing, and basic necessities.

Over the years, the fund has supported children’s homes, inmates at Rusape Prison, people living with disabilities, and orphans.

Council Chairman Councillor Lovemore Chifomboti said the initiative provides an opportunity for individuals and organisations to demonstrate solidarity by improving the welfare of those facing difficulties.

“We are calling on stakeholders from all sectors of the community to embrace the initiative and make contributions in cash or kind to ensure that the fund reaches as many beneficiaries as possible,” Clr Chifomboti said.

“The Cheer Fund is an important platform for promoting community responsibility and complementing efforts by the Government and other stakeholders to improve the livelihoods of vulnerable groups.

“The initiative also underscores the importance of collective responsibility in building an inclusive community where no one is left behind.

“Through the 2026 edition, we hope to mobilise greater support from the corporate world, churches, civic organisations and residents to bring hope and relief to disadvantaged members of the society.

“No donation is too small or insignificant. Every donation is fully accounted for and channeled to the right beneficiaries. The Fund has in the past years made major impact such as purchasing cocking pots for Rusape Prison and giving groceries that run for months to Makoni Old People’s Home. We have donated to homes in Nyanga and Chiredzi.”

The fund has also adopted several orphans, funding their school fees and providing educational stationery.
